Fort Ross, California

Fort Ross was begun in 1812 by the Russian-American Company for the fur trade.  Fort Ross also had a chapel for the Russian Orthodox believers to hold Divine Liturgies as laymen.  It is believed that St. Peter the Aleut visited here briefly on his way to San Francisco.  For more information click on this link:  History of Fort Ross
