The Hagia Sophia

 

The Hagia Sophia is in Istanbul, Turkey.  The original name for this city was Constantinople when the Hagia Sophia was built, and was a Greek Orthodox Church.  This cathedral was originally built by Byzantine Emperor Justinian.  The interior has immense marble columns, beautiful mosiacs, and great architecture.  Hagia Sophia was the largest cathedral of its time, and remained the largest in the world for 1,000 years.  It was built between 532 and 537 AD.
